Influenced by her former career in Australian fashion and denim design, and inspired by the significance of denim in outback Australia, all while set against a backdrop of wild, rugged landscapes, Meg's collaboration with Bullo River Station in Australia's Northern Territory is a natural fit.
Meg visited Bullo River Station in July 2025 as their first artist-in-residence, and spent time being inspired by the property's vast lands, vivid nature-based colour palette, and the enthralling stories of the station's ringers. During her stay she also collected old denim jeans, paisley bandanas, and sun-faded green cotton workwear, all once worn by the Bullo team, with each piece of material etched with unique fading and marks from years of use.
Returning to her studio in Dunedin, New Zealand, Meg began the process of re- immersing herself in Bullo River Station - revisiting her sketches, colour samples, and the collected materials, and laying these out across mood boards. From there, she layered pigments, paints, and dyes, while slowly incorporating the station sourced materials - a slow and laborious process, guided by her artistic inspiration and intuition.
This beautifully commissioned piece of art, labelled The Rhythm is Meg's love letter to Bullo River Station and outback Australia. A textile-based artwork inspired by her visit, and featuring worn materials from station ringers and staff.
This exclusive, one-off piece of art, will be available for just one lucky person to buy and forever treasure. And, in-line with Bullo River Station's commitment to environmental protection, and Meg's own desire promote sustainable living, 100% of proceeds from this artwork sale will support the vitally important work of Australian Wildlife Conservancy - a registered charity, and long-standing Bullo partner committed to protecting Australia's unique wildlife. Meg is proud to be supporting tangible positive outcomes for the protection of Australia's wildlife through this charity auction, and for her art to be both giving back to important conservation efforts, and to be telling a powerful and purposeful story.
The bespoke artwork, titled The Rhythm will be open to bid on via an online auction here on Meg's website from the 20th of October 2025.
