I make abstract works using reclaimed textiles, vintage garments, paint and pigment. Denim, silk, leather and other sourced offcuts are cut into and reconstructed with precise, subtle seams. I then build into the surface with paint, pigment, dye and bleach, creating a dance between textile and paint
My background in fashion informs my understanding of textile construction and how natural fibres can be manipulated, aged and broken down. I use processes of washing, bleaching and dyeing to transform these materials, moving between precision and instinct as each work develops.
My work explores change and transformation, both within our bodies and the natural world. I am interested in the way our landscapes move, weather, age and change, and how these processes are mirrored in our own bodies. In nature, change and imperfection are inevitable, and often where we find beauty. My work asks whether we might see ourselves with the same acceptance, taking inspiration from the natural world rather than seeing ourselves as separate from it.
